Set of Christmas Island Year of the Pig 2019 stamps
This set of stamps contains the two stamps from the Christmas Island Year of the Pig 2019 stamp issue.
Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is one of the most popular and widely celebrated traditional Chinese festivals, and it is celebrated by many communities in countries around the world. Family feasts are conducted, gifts are exchanged, lanterns are hung and public firework displays are held.
The year 2019 is the Year of the Pig, the 12th and final sign of the Chinese Zodiac. The Pig’s patient, kind and empathetic nature makes those born under this sign well suited to a career as a teacher, doctor, vet or social worker. Previous Pig years include 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995 and 2007.
This stamp issue concludes the 12-year series of Lunar New Year stamp issues designed by talented graphic artist Dani Poon.
