Overview

The FIFA Women’s World Cup is an international association football competition contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's international governing body. It has been held every four years since 1991.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™ is taking place from 20 July to 20 August 2023. It is the first to be held in the southern hemisphere and the first to be hosted by two countries. A record 32 nations are competing for the coveted trophy at venues across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. As the host nation’s team automatically qualifies, as co-hosts, Australia’s Matildas and New Zealand’s Football Ferns were included in the 32 national teams.
