The Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post have formed a coin program of two collectable $2 coloured coin designs featuring a Men’s 2025 Australian Open (AO) coin and a Women’s 2025 Australian Open (AO) coin. This program celebrates history and marks the 120th year of the Australian Open in Australia.
Visit a participating Australia Post Office to collect either the (non-privy marked) Men’s and Women’s $2 till coins by making a cash purchase at the counter for the chance to score the coins in your change. Australia Post is the exclusive distributor of the till coins.
The coins (with Privy Mark) can be purchased individually in a sealed coin folder. There is a 1-in-10 chance of finding either the special $2 coloured Men’s or Women’s (with ‘Envelope’ Privy Mark) coins within this folder.
From Wednesday 15 January 2025, visit a participating Australia Post Office to collect the AO Men’s and Women’s $2 coins by purchasing individual coin in folders (with ‘Envelope’ Privy Mark) for $12 each.
Only the non-privy marked coins can be discovered in customer’s change when they pay in cash at participating Australia Post Offices.

Yes, these coins are Australian legal tender. They were minted by the Royal Australian Mint and have gone through the legislated approval process.
The numbers produced of each coin will be published in the Royal Australian Mint’s 2024-25 Annual Report.
The till coin program will run from Wednesday 15 January until Sunday 16 February 2025 at participating outlets. While stocks last.
Till coins will not be made available in sachets or rolls.
The non-privy marked coins will be distributed by participating Post Offices as change. The only requirement is to make a purchase using cash that requires change to be provided.
It will be up to chance whether you receive the coin/s in your change.
